Overview
Executive summary
WIYAK is a leading ride-hailing and rental service provider in the Middle East, offering on-demand cab rides and bike and car rentals. Its existing DigitalOcean infrastructure had limited scalability and security. As an AWS Advanced Tier Partner, Core5 re-architected and migrated WIYAK's platform to AWS for high availability, stronger security and seamless scaling.
The challenge
What they were up against
- Scalability limits and performance bottlenecks on the existing DigitalOcean setup.
- Difficulty managing a rapidly growing data set.
- A need for high availability, seamless scaling and stronger security.
- High cost and complexity of managing infrastructure, which slowed feature delivery.
- A migration that had to minimise downtime and protect customer information.
Our solution
How Core5 approached it
- Designed a multi-tier architecture across public and private subnets in a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) for high availability and fault tolerance.
- Ran a phased migration with continuous data replication and thorough testing to minimise disruption.
- Orchestrated containerised microservices (ride management, rental bookings, cab dispatch) on Amazon EKS.
- Managed relational data on Amazon RDS and non-relational data on AWS DocumentDB.
- Added layered security with IAM, encryption at rest and in transit, and Amazon CloudWatch monitoring.
